Description:Nick Coster (Humphrey Bogart) runs a circus and carries on with Flo (Sylvia Sidney), his fortune teller. When his drunk lion tamer lets a lion get loose in town, store clerk Matt Varney (Eddie Albert), manages to subdue it and trap it in his store. Nick hires Matt for the circus and soon has him replace the old tamer. The old tamer gets angry and attacks Matt in the lion tent. He beats Matt, but then gets too close to the lion cage and gets mauled. Flo, who has taken a shine to Matt, spirits him away from the local cops to Nick's farm where Matt meets Mary (Joan Leslie), Nick's sister. They fall in love, which makes Nick angry because he doesn't want his sister messing with "carnival vermin." He decides to kill Matt by having him appear in the ring with a man-eating lion. The lion attacks Matt, but Nick has a change of heart and intervenes and gets mauled himself. On his deathbed, he gives the OK for Matt and Mary to marry and asks Flo to help them out.

Review - Wagons Roll at Night, The

Stupid plot, and Bogart's character just acted like a jerk. But Sidney, Albert, and Leslie were all great in their roles and made the movie worth watching.
