Description:Sam (Stewart Granger) is a thief who steals art so Felix (George Sanders) can sell it. When Sam steals a painting from a Sicilian church, however, he decides to keep it. He tells Felix that the painted burned when his boat caught on fire. Felix isn't sure whether to believe him, but when Sam suggests that Felix should pay to have a forgery painted, he goes along. Sam approaches Anna (Pier Angeli), a young woman who soon falls for him. She paints a copy of the painting, thinking it's for a good cause. Most of the movie involves Sam and Felix trying to outfox each other and Sam trying to stay a step ahead of the police. Sam even marries Anna to convince her he's on the level. When she finds out he's a thief after all, she leaves him. Sam realizes that he's grown to love her too, so he returns the painting. The police just tell him to leave Sicily and not come back. Felix lets him go too, realizing he's lost his best thief.

Reviews for The Light Touch

Review - Light Touch, The

Slow moving, cat-and-mouse suspense that never really had moments of crisis, just a lot of clever maneuvering. The relationship between Sam and Anna made the movie except that Pier Angeli, who was 19 when the movie was shot, looked like she was 14.
