| Description: | Diamond broker Howard Chesser (Charles Grodin) is approached by millionaire Clyde Massey (Trevor Howard) and asked to procure him a large diamond. Chesser does, but the diamond is stolen (although Chesser doesn't realize it, it was stolen by Massey's men). Owing Massey $1 million, Chesser is talked into robbing the diamond exchange at 11 Harrowhouse in London. With the help of his girlfriend Maren (Candice Bergen) and a disgruntled employee Watts (James Mason), Chesser steals all the exchange's stock by running a hose into the vault and sucking the diamonds up. When Chesser and Maren bring the diamonds to Massey, he tries to have his men rob them again. This time they get away, after a long car chase. To release them all on the market would drive the price down, so they take out $25 million-worth and bury the rest in cement in the exchange's own courtyard. |
