Description:Vic Norman (Clark Gable) is an ad man. After he gets out of the Army, he goes to work for an agency whose chief client is Beautee Soap, owned by petty tyrant Evans (Sydney Greenstreet). Looking for a spokeswoman for a soap ad, Vic meets Kay Dorrance (Deborah Kerr), a decent widow with two children. When Kay thinks Vic is attempting to seduce her, she stands him up. Vic heads for the West Coast to sign a comedian for Evans' radio program. On the way he meets old friend, night club singer Jean (Ava Gardner) and begins seeing her. With her help, He cons an agent (Edward Arnold) into a deal for the comedian, then writes a show script. Kay comes back into the picture, and Vic, realizing he's in love with her, proposes. When Vic meets with Evans, Evans pretends not to like Vic's work, then reveals that he does. Vic, influenced to be a better, more honest person, turns Evans down. He and Kay know they will struggle, but determine to be together—and perform an honest advertising service.

Review - Hucksters, The

Lots of good characters, but the movie didn't really go anywhere. It mocked advertising without getting very serious about it, and, apparently mocked some big names in the industry, but that meant nothing to me.
