Description:Womanizer Charlie is shot by Leopold Sartori (Walter Matthau) for messing with his wife. Charlie falls off a boat and drowns. Charlie's friend George (Tony Curtis) comes to give the eulogy and deal with the estate. The night after the memorial service, millionaire Bruce Minton (Pat Boone) shows up at Charlie's house with a young woman (Debbie Reynolds). Bruce says he found her on the beach. He leaves her with George and takes off. George is shocked when the woman reveals that she's really the reincarnated Charlie. Charlie soon becomes as conniving as a woman as he was as a man. While George tries to keep Charlie out of trouble, Charlie first blackmails women he once had affairs with, then convinces Bruce to marry her/him. But before it goes too far, Charlie decides he doesn't like who he's become. He goes back to the house to find George, but Sartori is there and tries to make love to her. Sartori's wife shows up and shoots Charlie, who falls off the balcony into the ocean. Tony is grieving for his friend—again, when a dog (named Charlie)wanders into his house, followed by its owner (also Debbie Reynolds). George and the dog owner hit it off while the dog wanders into the other room and lets the viewer know its Charlie, come back again, by accessing Charlie's secret stash of liquor.

Review - Goodbye Charlie

Weird and creepy, with nobody to root for, although Tony Curtis' character seems normal enough. It's not until the last five minutes when Debbie Reynolds shows up as the dog owner that the movie gives me anything to root for.
