Review - Iron Curtain, The
Anti-Communist propaganda film. Rather bleak, over-dramatic and dull.

| Description: | As WWII ends, the Soviet embassy in Ottawa begins spying on the joint Canadian/U.S. nuclear program. Their ring includes one of the scientists on the Manhattan Project and a M.P. Igor Gouzenko (Dana Andrews) is a stern party member. He codes the messages that go back and forth to Moscow. His wife Anna (Gene Tierney) has a baby. As Igor and Anna see what the free world has to offer, they become disenchanted with Russia. When Igor receives orders to return home, he steals a bunch of telling documents to give to the Canadian government. But he can't find anyone to take him seriously. The Russians come to his apartment to get him, but Anna, who was hiding with a neighbor, calls the police who take the family into protective custody. The ensuing trial convicts 10 people of collusion with the Soviets. Based on a true story. |
