Reviews for Mara Maru
Review - Mara Maru
Over dramatic, with some unnecessary characters thrown in to make the plot more complex. Mason's character really isn't very likeable until the very end.

| Description: | Gregory Mason (Errol Flynn) and his partner run a diving/salvage firm. When his partner is murdered, Mason is suspected by the police and blamed by Stella (Ruth Roman), his partner's wife. Mason is soon cleared. He's contacted by Benedict (Raymond Burr) who hires him to find sunken treasure—a diamond-studded cross that just happened to be carried by a refugee in Mason's PT boat when it was fleeing from Manila and sunk. Mason's boat is bombed, leaving him no choice (if he wants the treasure) but to go on Benedict's boat, the Mara Maru. Mason goes to the spot and gets the treasure but is betrayed by Benedict. Mason shipwrecks the boat on purpose and runs off into the jungle. He finds out the cross really belongs to the church in Manila, but he doesn't ant to give it up. There's a silly chase scene through the tunnels under the church, and in the end, Benedict is killed, and Mason decides to give the cross to the church and return to America with Stella. |
