Description:Bank Robber Wheeler kills a guard during a heist and makes off with $200,000. Policeman Paul Sheridan (Fred MacMurray) is assigned to make friends with Wheeler's girl, Lona (Kim Novak). Once he establishes that she's waiting for Wheeler, Paul and his partner Rick (Philip Carey) set up a stakeout to watch her apartment. But Paul finds it difficult to stay away from Lona. Meanwhile, Rick meets (and spies on) the nurse who lives next to Lona, Ann (Dorothy Malone). Paul decides to run off with Lona and the money. When Wheeler shows up, he grabs him and shoots him, then has to shoot another cop who knows what happened. He goes to Lona's apartment where he is accidentally spotted by neighbor Ann. Paul gets deeper and deeper into the mess as he tries to figure out how to get the money and run off with Lona before Rick and their boss figure out what's what. Then Ann spots Paul and recognizes him. She tells Rick, which forces Paul to grab her at gunpoint. He tries to get to the car with the money, with Ann and Lona in tow, but the cops close in and Paul is shot and killed. Lona, as enigmatic as always, is arrested. Rick, it appears, hits it off with Ann.

Review - Pushover

Good movie, flawed by unnecessary complexity near the end and by the casting of Fred MacMurray, who would never be a love interest of a girl like Kim Novak unless he already had the money. I often can't decide if Kim Novak is attractive or not. Here there was no problem—she was only 21 when this was shot, and she was attractive.
