| Description: | Adam Niles (Bob Hope) is a best-selling author of tell-all books. When his accountant takes off with all his money, Adam has to write another book quickly to pay off his taxes. His publisher sends him to Paradise, a new subdivision in California, to write about the lifestyles of Americans. He rents the home of Rosemary Howard (Lana Turner), and immediately falls for her. But she has no interest in getting involved. Meanwhile, he makes friends (innocently) with several wives in the neighborhood (played by Janis Paige, Paula Prentiss, and others). When the women's husbands find out, they get jealous and start a petition to oust him. When Rosemary refuses to evict him, she gets fired and takes a job as his secretary. Adam's accountant gets caught, and he gets him money back. But he returns to Paradise because he's in love with Rosemary. The other husbands sue for divorce from their wives, and Adam has to appear in court. His defense is that he wouldn't get involved with any of them because he only wanted to marry Rosemary. By this time, she knows he's the famous writer, but she realizes she loves him too. |
