Description:Charity Valentine (Shirley MacLaine) works as a hostess in a dance parlor and dreams of romance. She thinks she's about to get married to Charlie, but pushes her off a bridge and steals her money. Then she meets Vittorio (Ricardo Montalban), a famous movie star. He invites her home for the evening, but when his girlfriend shows up, Charity spends the night in a closet. Determined to better herself, she applies for a job. She's unqualified for anything, but she meets Oscar (John McMartin), an actuary at an insurance company. He thinks she works at a bank, and they fall in love and get engaged. Charity wants to be honest, so she tells him about her life. He says it doesn't matter, and they make wedding plans. Charity quits working at the parlor, but at the last minute, Oscar decides he can't deal with her past and leaves. Charity spends a night of grief in Central Park, then goes forth bravely and "lives hopefully ever after."

Review - Sweet Charity

A few songs I knew. A lot of goofiness. McMartin was about an uninteresting a character as I've seen in any movie. MacLaine was enthusiastic, but the movie didn't really move me much.
