Not a movie I'd be in a big hurry to watch a second time, but it was lively and had some amusing moments.

| Description: | Ad execs Mike Frye (Fred MacMurray) and Debbie Patterson (Dorothy McGuire) have a hit on their hands when they decide to air old Smoky Callaway movies. Their bosses demand more movies, but Callaway is a drunk living in Mexico and nobody can find him. They do find Stretch Barnes (Howard Keel), a Colorado cowboy who looks just like Callaway. They bring him to Hollywood and convince him to impersonate Callaway in movies and personal appearances. Debbie goes on the publicity tours with Stretch, who is a kind, decent man. They soon fall for each other, but Debbie feels guilty because she told Stretch that Callaway was dead. When Callaway hears what's happening, he returns to Hollywood and demands to take over. But when he finds out that Stretch, as Callaway, donated all his earnings to orphanages, he heads back to Mexico. Stretch agrees to continue playing the role for free (since his earnings are being donated), and Debbie agrees to marry him. |
