Review - Invitation
Implausible, dull, over-dramatic. Ruth Roman was good as the vindictive woman who was waiting to marry Dan after Ellen died.

| Description: | Ellen (Dorothy McGuire) is a semi-invalid married to Dan Pierce (Van Johnson). Dan married her, rather unexpectedly, a year earlier instead of marrying Maud (Ruth Roman). One day she receives an invitation to a seminar on a new procedure for those dying of heart failure. She does some research and realizes that she is soon to die. She also figures out that her wealthy father paid Dan to marry her and give her a year of good living before her death. She confronts Dan and he confesses all, but also shows how, during the year of their marriage, he fell in love with her and has done everything he could to keep her alive. She believes him, has the operation, and lives. |
