Description:When a well-organized gang of criminals pull off several robberies in London, Scotland Yard asks the retired Bulldog Drummond (Walter Pidgeon) to take the case. He goes undercover with a policewoman, Helen Smith (Margaret Leighton) and pretend to be criminals. They soon get the attention of the gang and are included in the nest Heist. But before it happens, the gang figure out who Drummond is. He and Helen are captured, to be disposed of as soon as the next robbery is complete. A pal of Drummond's comes looking for him and is soon caught also, but between the two of them, they manage to overpower their guard. With the help of the police, they catch the bad guys when they return.

Review - Calling Bulldog Drummond

I've not seen the other Bulldog Drummond movies, so I have nothing to compare this too. It was a fairly standard crime/heist film, but with good characters and a lot of energy. Leighton, as the policewoman, was particularly appealing -- playing the consummate professional cop one minute and a hard-boiled criminal the next.
