Description:Jack (Ian Carmichael) and Peggy (Janette Scott) can't get married until they find a place to live. The find a houseboat they can afford and impulsively buy it and marry. Of course, it leaks and has dry rot. Jack's buddy Sid (Sidney James) talks Jack into taking it up the Thames for a honeymoon cruise with himself as captain. He brings Sandra, a stripper. More problems arise, including fog, and they accidentally find themselves in France. They have to steal food and fuel from the owner of the harbor where they dock, and he makes a bet with them that they can beat him home. At the last minute, the owner's yacht runs ashore, allowing Jack and Peggy to win — and immediately sell the boat.

Review - Double Bunk

Typical Mr. Blandings Buys His Dream House plot with a naive couple getting in over their heads, almost breaking up as a result, and then ending up happy and wiser. Carmichael was way too old to be a groom to Janette Scott's bride, but otherwise did well as the amiable, not-entirely-incompetent dork. Scott was lovely, as always, and Fraser wasn't far behind.
