Description:Three buddies who work concessions at Coney Island compete for the attentions of Sally (a 20-year-old Ginger Rogers). She likes Dutch (Robert Armstrong) and Skeets (the way-to-old for the part James Gleason), but her heart belongs to Baltimore (William Boyd). War breaks out with Germany, and the three men join. Baltimore served when he was younger, so he's made an officer. He's given command of a special mission — to captain a captured German supply ship, make contact with German submarines, and find out their plans. Three subs show up, and their captains board Baltimore's ship. Dutch speaks German, and he manages to fool them long enough to learn their plans and alert the U.S. fleet. But the Germans catch on to the disguise and sink Baltimore's ship, but not before he manages to sink one of the subs. The U.S. fleet arrives in time to save the three buddies and a few others. Back at Coney island, the three return to their pre-war jobs, but Baltimore wins Sally's hand.

Review - Suicide Fleet

Ginger was cute, but the movie was forgettable. Gleason was way too old for his part. It also wasn't clear what war was being fought. Ships, cars, fashions were all 1930's style, so it couldn't have been WWI, but, unless it was prophecy, WWII hadn't yet occurred.
