Description:Three bank robbers kill a banker and make off with the gold. On the desert, they get caught in a storm and lose their horses. Nearly out of water, they happen upon a covered wagon containing a pregnant woman about to give birth. The mother dies soon after childbirth, but not before making the men promise to get her child to safety. (She doesn't realize that they killed her husband during the robbery.) There is some canned milk for the child, but no other provisions. Their only hope is to get back to the town where they robbed the bank. On the way, Barbwire (Raymond Hatton) gets too weak and shoots himself. Wild Bill (Fred Kohler) wanders off into the desert so that Bob (Charles Bickford) will have enough water to get the baby to safety. His water gone, Bob's only hope of saving the child is to drink poisoned water in the hopes that it will give him the strength to get to town before it kills him. He manages to stumble into the church with the baby on Christmas morning and dies, but the child lives.

Review - Hell's Heroes

Very early talkie, with stilted dialogue and some of the over-expression of silent movies. It moved slowly, and was over-dramatic, but compelling as the story of three men who try to redeem themselves by saving a child.
