Review - Clash by Night
Basically a movie about adultery and how selfish it is. At least it ended with the couple getting back together.

| Description: | Bored, cynical Mae Doyle (Barbara Stanwyck) returns to her brother's house in Monterey after her affair with a married man ends. Hoping to settle down, she marries good-hearted fisherman Jerry D'Amato (Paul Douglas) and has a baby. But she soon runs across Earl (Robert Ryan), Jerry's friend. Earl is as bored and cynical as Mae, and they soon have an affair. Jerry finds out and tries to talk Mae out of it, then almost kills Earl. He finally gives up in disgust, takes the baby, and goes to live on his boat. When Earl tries to talk Mae into leaving without the baby, she rethinks things. She realizes that she (and Earl) always insist that everybody else accepts their terms. She realizes how selfish she's been. She boots Earl out and goes back to Jerry, who, being the nice guy that he is, takes her back. Marilyn Monroe has a small role as the fiancee of Mae's brother. |
