Description:Heiress Valentine Ransome (Barbara Stanwyck), out pub-crawling, happens upon Jonathan Blair (Herbert Marshall), owner of a steamship company. Blair is a playboy who neglects the business, which is about to go under. He's engaged to Carol (Glenda Farrell), a untalented actress. Valentine decides she wants to marry Blair, but not before she stops his playboy ways. She attempts this buying the stock in the steamship company and becoming the president. Blair thinks he's been had, and determines to fight back against Valentine's manipulation by — among other things — marrying Carol anyway. With the help of Blair's butler, Valentine manages to disrupt the wedding. Meanwhile, Blair has decided to get serious about his business, which is what Valentine wanted all along. Blair tries to marry Carol again, and this time the butler forges a marriage certificate, supposedly signed on the night Valentine and Blair met. At this point, the movie descends into food fights and a lot of yelling, the end of which, of course, is that Valentine and Blair get married for real.

Review - Breakfast for Two

A six for a lively plot and interesting characters for the first three-quarters of the film. A four for the slapstick nonsense with which it ended.
