Description:Adrien (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a private in the French Army. He gets a short leave and goes to visit his girlfriend, Agnes (Francoise Dorleac), just in time to see her kidnapped on the street outside her apartment. The rest of the movie is his adventures as he relentlessly follows her — across Paris to the airport, across the ocean to Rio, across Brazil to Brasilia, then into the jungle. Along the way, he takes bikes, planes and boats. He climbs, swims, parachutes, following her everywhere. The head of the kidnappers was a friend of her dead father's who is collecting ancient artifacts that will lead him to a hidden cache of diamonds. He takes Agnes along, first because she knows where one of the statues is hidden, and second, because he intends to make her his mistress. But, as high-maintenance as she is, Agnes only has eyes for Adrien. In the end, the bad guy dies in a cave-in and Adrien rescues Agnes and gets back to Paris just as his leave is ending.

Review - L'homme de Rio

Quirky, funny, exciting. Supposedly based on the Tintin adventures and the inspiration for Indiana Jones.
