| Description: | Set in the Air Force during the Korean War. Major Cleve Saville (Robert Mitchum), WWII ace, is sent to Korea to fly jets. He meets pilot Carl Abbott (Lee Philips), a cowardly alcoholic who neglects his wife Kris (May Britt). Cleve has a fling with her, but she feels bad about leaving Carl and asks Cleve to look after him. When Carl is shot down over China, Cleve crash lands his plane to rescue him. Another pilot, hot shot Ed Pell (Robert Wagner) gives them air cover until he too is shot down. Cleve and Ed carry Carl for many days until they finally reach allied lines. Ed realizes he's been a jerk to Kris, and she agrees to go home with him. Cleve, who was injured during the rescue, recuperates an returns to action. |
