Description:Millionaire heiress Norah Hunter (Laraine Day) wants love but can't find a man to love her for herself and not for her money. To preserve her anonymity, she has her secretary Sylvia (Marsha Hunt) impersonate her. Wanting to find Norah a man, Sylvia invites the soldiers from a nearby camp to a party at Norah's mansion. Among those who come is Capt. Anthony Travis (Alan Marshal). He and Norah play pool and hang out and become friends, and Norah falls in love. But to make sure Anthony really loves her, he encourages her to ask Sylvia (whom he thinks is Norah — follow?) to marry him. Sylvia plays along with it although her own husband, Phil, is hanging around being jealous. Anyway, all head to Norah's beach house, and Anthony and Sylvia wander off and come back engaged. Norah is hurt and pouts. Anthony sees Sylvia (whom he thinks is his fiancee) kiss Phil. He gets riled up and, supposedly to protect Norah from the seemliness of the household, he carries her off literally. In the next scene, it's the next morning and they're married. Norah breaks the news to him that she's really Norah and all is well.

Review - Bride by Mistake

This movie was annoying in so many ways. First, Laraine Day is nowhere near attractive enough for someone to fall for her without knowing her a lot better than anyone got to in this movie. She looks like an accountant's dowdy wife. Second, Phil knew what was going on, so why did he hang around the entire movie looking jealous? Third, Anthony spent most of the movie with Sylvia, so, at the end, when he carries Norah off and marries her, they'd known each other for maybe three days and had spent maybe three hours together, most of them drunk.
