Description:Lassiter (Tom Selleck) is an American jewel thief in London in 1939. He's arrested by Scotland Yard inspector Becker (Bob Hoskins) and told he has to steal a bunch of diamonds from the German Embassy or go to prison. Becker hates Lassiter and plans on killing or jailing him whatever happens. Working with Becker is Breeze (Joe Rebalbuto), FBI agent, who is more sympathetic towards Lassiter. To get into the embassy, Lassiter makes friends with Kari (Lauren Hutton), a nasty German woman who (for some reason I didn't catch) is in charge of the diamonds. With help from his girlfriend Sara (Jane Seymour) and his friend Smoke (Ed Lauter), Lassiter gets the diamonds, fences them for cash, pretends to run away, then allows himself to get caught by Becker. Smoke, with some others, dress up like Germans and stop Becker's car and take Lassiter. Becker thinks Lassiter was captured by the Germans and killed, which allows Lassiter and Sara to get away with the money. Breeze knows what happened, but just thinks it's funny so long as the Germans don't have the diamonds.

Review - Lassiter

Unnecessarily crude at times, but a decent period heist film. Selleck seemed more like an actor portraying a master thief than an actual thief.
