Description:Train robber Wes McQueen (Joel McCrea) is broken out of prison by his old partner and asked to do one more job. On his way to Colorado on the stage, he meets Fred Winslow (Henry Hull), a farmer who bought a ranch, and his daughter Julie Ann (Dorothy Malone). Wes decides he wants to settle down with Julie Ann as soon as he finished his job. At the hideout, he meets his gang and Colorado (Virginia Mayo), a dance hall girl one of them brought along. The gang members start fighting over her, so Wes protects her, and she falls for him. During the robbery, the other members try to betray Wes, but he's on to them and either kills them or lets the posse catch them. He gets away with the money and Colorado, but he's injured. They stop at Winslow's cabin, but by this time Julie Ann has decided she'd rather have the $20,000 reward for catching Wes. She tries to betray him, but Colorado stops her. Wes and Colorado go back to the original hideout and decide to get married, but the posse closes in. They trap Colorado into thinking she can help Wes escape by letting her get two horses. When Wes come out in the open, he's shot. The posse closes in to hang him, but Colorado starts shooting until both she and Wes and killed.

Review - Colorado Territory

Not flawless, but pretty good. The characters are great — Malone as the nice girl who seems sweet but will sell out for money, and Mayo as the bad girl with a heart of gold. McCrea played his role sympathetically, so I was actually rooting for the bad guy. But the flaws — Mayo's character was part Indian, so they put brown makeup on her face (I assume it was brown — it was a black-and-white movie), but not on her chest or arms, which looked really weird. And at the end, when they let her grab the guns and run off to Wes, why didn't they think to take the bullets out?
