Review - Splendor in the Grass
The first two thirds are based on the premise that if teens are prevented from having sex, they'll go mad. The over-acting, particularly by Wood, to express her growing madness was very annoying. She was cute, but ridiculous. And Bud's dad as a controlling jerk who never listened, and Deanie's mom as a superficial woman worried only about appearances were both hard to take. The end was a little better — after Deanie's usually quiet father defied his wife and told Deanie where to find Bud. Their final meeting was closure on all that had happened (ridiculous as it was) and made it so I could finally root for them to have good lives.
