Description:Sandy Dawson (Robert Ryan) heads a criminal gang in Tokyo made up of ex-G.I.s When they kill an American soldier on one of their heists, the Army sends Eddie Kenner (Robert Stack), after giving him a false I.D. and criminal record. He first contacts Mariko, the widow of one of Dawson's gang members, but is convinced she is innocent. Eddie infiltrates Dawson's gang and becomes a member. Wanting to help, Mariko poses as his "kimono girl." Dawson plans an armored car robbery, and Eddie sends word through Mariko to the Army. An informer tells Dawson he's been betrayed, but he suspects Griff, another gang member. But the informer tells Dawson that Eddie is a plant. Not wanting to kill Eddie outright and get the Army on his back, Dawson plans to frame Eddie for jewel robbery in such a way that the Japanese police will kill him. But it goes wrong and Dawson flees to a rooftop amusement park where he is gunned down. Eddie and Mariko end up together.

Review - House of Bamboo

Stack was good, as was the woman who played Mariko. Ryan was over-the-top as he usually is, and the long stretches involving the interplay of his gang were dull.
