Description:Seventeen-year-old Nancy (Jane Powell) is offered the lead in a play in Rio. Her mother Frances (Ann Sothern) is already in Rio rehearsing a play, so Nancy sails down by herself. On the boat, the much older Paul (Barry Sullivan) overhears Nancy practicing her lines about begin pregnant. He thinks she's worried, so he tries awkwardly to console here, which Nancy mistakes for a proposal. In Rio, Nancy realizes that she'll be taking her mother's part in the play, so she tries to resolve this by accepting Paul's proposal. Frances goes to confront Paul, and they fall in love. There's a bunch of nonsense, but in the end Nancy ends up with the lead and Frances ends up with Paul.

Review - Nancy Goes to Rio

I like Ann Sothern and Jane Powell, but this was a dumb plot stretched out with forgettable songs and a really badly painted backdrop that was supposed to look like Rio.
