Both Powell's and de Havilland's characters were great, but about halfway through the story fell apart and just got silly.

| Description: | Rich girl Maggie Richards (Olivia de Havilland) runs out of her house in a tiff and then runs out of gas in her car. She stops at a gas station run by would-be architect Bill Davis (Dick Powell). When he finds out she doesn't have money to pay for her gas, he makes her clean the tourist cabins. Maggie determines to get back at Bill, so she suggests he take his plans for a string of motor courts to her father for monetary backing. Her father sends him to Atwater, another rich investor, and the two of them have fun rejecting Bill back and forth. Before long, Bill has lost his job and spent his money and is forced to go to work as a riveter. Meanwhile, however, Maggie has fallen in love with him. She gets her dad and Atwater to back Bill's plans, and then her dad gets Bill to marry Maggie. |
