Description:Brian Flanagan (Tom Cruise) gets out of the service and heads to New York to make his fortune. Nobody will hire him because he has no education, so he takes classes and works as a bartender at night. His boss, Doug (Bryan Brown) teaches him how to make drinks and how to make fancy moves as he makes them. He hits it off with customer Coral (Gina Gershon) and thinks he's found love, but Doug seduces her. Brian takes off for Jamaica and gets a job as a barman there. He meets Jordan (Elisabeth Shue), and they fall in love. But then Doug shows up, having married Kelly, a wealthy woman. Doug bets Brian he can't seduce wealthy customer Bonnie, so Brian does it. Jordan finds out and heads back to New York. Brian becomes Bonnie's kept man, but he hates it. After a particular humiliation, he leaves her and goes looking for Jordan. She tells him she's pregnant, but wants nothing to do with him. He goes looking for Doug who now owns his own bar and is miserable and going bankrupt. He commits suicide. Brian, having figured something or else out, goes and pleads with Jordan. She agrees to marry him, even though it means cutting her off from her family's money. Brian opens his own bar with a loan from his uncle, and even though he's not a millionaire, he's happy.

Review - Cocktail

Trashy, filled with flawed characters and cheap morals. It's known mostly as Cruise's most-poorly rated film and for Kokomo by the Beach Boys, which first appeared in this film
