Description:Richard (Michael Craig) marries Kate (Anne Heywood), the boss' daughter, and is told that they are expected to host parties for the firm. That means they will have to get a cook (and later, a nanny). The movie tells the story of the troubles they have getting satisfactory help — there's the hooker (Claudia Cardinale), the drunk, the bank robbers, the clumsy oaf, and finally, Ingrid (Mylene Demongeot), a pretty but naive Swedish girl who soon attracts the attention of all Richard and Anne's married husband friends. Ingrid stays ahead of them by pointing out their hypocrisy. She finally agrees to marry a friend of Richard's but decides to head back to Sweden instead (because, I think, she loves Richard and either knows she can't ultimately be with him or because she knows she can and doesn't want to ruin him — I'm not sure).

Review - Upstairs and Downstairs

The were some good characters and good acting, but the movie didn't really have a plot. It was just a series of sketches about a couple trying to get good help. I supposed it pointed out the difference between classes in England, or something like that, but that's old news. Basically, it went nowhere.
