Description:Band leader Kay Kyser (as himself) had just married Terry (Ellen Drew) when the Army chooses him to work with Connie (Jane Wyman), an agent trying to discover a German spy ring operating out of the nightclub where Kay's band plays. Kay isn't allowed to tell Terry anything about his mission, so naturally she misunderstands when he sneaks out and is seen with Connie. There's a lot of slapstick nonsense leading up to the final scene when the Germans trap Kay and Terry in a theater. He tries to get himself and her out of harm's way while she just tries to get away from him. In the end, he's a hero for catching the spies and he and Terry get back together.

Review - My Favorite Spy

To begin with, Kyser doesn't have the acting chops to pull this off. He is supposed to be a bumbling fool, but just sounds and looks whiny. Wyman has a thankless roll — she's last seen tied up in a closet, so we don't even know what happens to her. Mix a couple actual deaths into the picture, along with some odd jumps in the timeline, and it all adds up to a mess.
