Review - Love on a Bet
If an attractive, less-wooden actress than Wendy Barrie had been cast, it would have been a much better film, but it was still a clever plot.

He's act out the play by leaving New York with nothing but his underwear and arrive in Los Angeles 10 days later in a new suit and with $100 in his pocket and a fiancee. If he succeeds, his uncle backs the play. If he fails, he'll go to work in the plant. Michael latches on with Paula (Wendy Barrie) and her aunt Charlotte (Helen Broderick) who are traveling to L.A. so Paula can marry a wealthy man. Before long, Michael and Paula fall for each other. Aunt Charlotte is harder to please. Making some clever deals, Michael trades his way up to a new suit. When two escaped cons take them hostage, Michael manages to capture them and turn them over to the police for a reward.
