Description:Dancer Delphine and Musician Solange (Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorleac, sisters in real life) play twins in the town of Rochefort. The both dream of love over a weekend when a fair comes to town. Delphine sees a painting of herself in a gallery and learns that it was painted by Maxence, a sailor who dreamed of her as the perfect woman. Solange asks a music shop owner to introduce her to Andy (Gene Kelly) a producer in Paris — not realizing that he's the man she met on the street and fell in love with. All of this revolves around a street fair on the city square and the coffee shop run by the twins' mother (who happens to be the long-lost fiancee of the music shop owner). In the end, everyone meets their loves and all go dancing off.

Review - Young Girls of Rochefort, The

Certainly colorful and filled with attractive people. The way the lovers kept just missing each other until the end was clever. Kelly was an odd choice — he could still dance but he was much too old for the part and all his singing was dubbed.
