Description:A stipulation in her father's will states that heiress Nancy Fleming (Lucille Ball) can't inherit his money unless she marries a "real American." She wants to marry Count Georgi (Lee Bowman), a gold-digging foreigner. To get around the problem, she offers ditch digger Anthony Anthony (James Ellison) money to marry her, planning on divorcing him immediately. Anthony agrees to the deal because he needs the money to buy a boat. When the marriage comes out in the press, Anthony determines to be the one to file for divorce so he doesn't get a reputation as a gold digger. He takes off for Reno with Nancy "locked" in his trailer (even though anyone not a total invalid could escape through any of the large windows). By the time they get to Reno, Nancy has fallen for Anthony. But before she can stop the divorce, her uncle shows up and annuls the marriage. Disappointed, Nancy contrives to meet Anthony on the highway and have a preacher and a license handy so she and Anthony can get married on the road.

Review - Next Time I Marry

Total silly nonsense, but with likeable characters. One funny bit — Anthony gets a job at a garage in Reno. To see him, Nancy repeatedly shoots holes in her car tires so he'll have to fix them. She shoots two holes in each tire, and when the garage owner asks about the two holes, her driver says, "We ran over a goat."
