Description:Four U.S. Navy photographers, tired of their small quarters, arrange for lodging in what they think is an empty house. When they discover four geisha girls living there, they think they've gotten lucky. The girls allow them to stay, but only if they behave like gentlemen. Meanwhile, the press hears on of the men, Andy (Glenn Ford) describe the house as an orphanage, so when the press and Navy brass show up, the girls have to gather kids to sell the story. In the end, the stories about the orphanage brings in so many donations, the girls are able to open a real orphanage and get out of the no-longer-profitable geisha business. Two of the Navy men marry two of the girls.

Review - Cry for Happy

I guess this might have been enjoyable for any U.S. military personnel who spent time in Japan and had to deal with the culture clash, but for me, it was pretty dull. One funny part was a movie within a movie — a Japanese "western" in which the cowboys had to remove their boots before they entered the saloon.
