Freed and his friend Chuck Berry (as himself) like the record, but they don't know who Johnny is. Meanwhile, Johnny meets Julie (Sandy Stewart), and old friend from the orphanage, and they begin dating. Johnny wants to get Julie a pin for Christmas but can't afford it. At the same time, Julie finds out that Freed is looking for Johnny and, together, they set out to find him. They arrive just after Johnny tosses a brick through the jewelry store window. Freed pretends to be drunk and takes the blame. Johnny goes on to be a star and marries Julie.

Review - Go, Johnny, Go!

Although the characters of Johnny and Julie are likeable enough, the stars of the movie are the performers who play some of their lesser-known songs — Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, The Cadillacs, etc.
