Review - Landfall
Very much like a Nevil Shute novel. Slow moving with likeable British characters who are just regular people doing extraordinary things during wartime.

| Description: | Based on a Nevil Shute novel. Rick (Michael Denison) flies patrols over the English Channel during WWII. He meets Mona (Patricia Plunkett) a barmaid, and they begin seeing each other. On a patrol, he's told not to bomb any submarines in a certain zone during a certain time of day. He sees one just outside that zone and time, and sinks it. When a British submarine disappears that day, Rick is accused of sinking it. He requests a transfer and ends up as a test pilot of an experimental bomb. He wants to marry Mona, but she's afraid she's not in the right class to be an officer's wife. Rick's test goes wrong and he's seriously injured. Before Mona finds out, she overhears scuttlebutt in the bar that convinces her that the submarine Rick sank was really a German one. She takes the information to the Navy and they investigate and find out she was right. Rick is cleared of all wrongdoing, and he and Mona get married. |
