Description:Bill Partain (Leslie Nielsen), out-of-work reporter, is on his honeymoon with Irene (Colleen Miller) when he hears that notorious bank robber Tom Ellis is hiding out nearby. Bill wants an interview with Ellis because he knows the story will get him re-hired. But the people in the tiny Ozark town consider Ellis a hero and refuse to help. Finally, the local sheriff, Follett (Edward Andrews) takes Bill to visit Ellis's ex-girlfriend, a whom Bill once did a story on. She tells Ellis, and Bill is soon contacted and taken to the hideout. Ellis is giving Bill the story when Elly, one of his men, mutinies and kills Ellis. Elly decides to hold Bill for ransom and sends a letter to his old paper. When Bill disappears, Irene walks all over town trying to find someone who will help her find her husband. The newspaper prints a personal ad saying that they will pay the ransom. Unable to get help anywhere else, Irene jumps on the paperboy's truck and figures out which house Bill is held in. She contacts the police, and they arrive just in time to rescue Bill and kill the bad guys.

Review - Hot Summer Night

Typical B noir with dramatic music and lighting and unconvincing sets. But Miller made the movie as the wife who refused to give up looking for her husband even though he abandoned her on their honeymoon.
