Description:Don Stuart (Fred MacMurray) is head ranger in a national forest. Tana (Susan Hayward), local lumber company owner, is in love with him. Don is trying to track down an arsonist who keeps setting fires in the forest. Don goes into town one day and meets Celia (Paulette Goddard). Impulsively, he marries her and brings her back to the forest. Dana is jealous and does whatever she can to break up the marriage by proving that Celia is unsuited for the woods. It all comes to a crisis when another fire breaks out and Tana and Celia are caught. Tana is injured, and Celia has to save her. Don tries to get to them and is almost murdered by the guy who flies the pilot plane. (The pilot is in love with Tana and hopes to get rid of Don, whom he sees as his rival. Not sure how setting fires was supposed to do that but ...). Don gets caught in the flames, but Celia manages to save him too, leaving Tana as the odd woman out.

Reviews for The Forest Rangers

Review - Forest Rangers, The

Interesting story, although I was rooting for Hayward's character. And I'm still not clear on how the pilot thought he could get rid of Don and win Tana by setting fires.
