Description:Nan Taylor (Barbara Stanwyck) is part of a bank-robbing gang. She's collared as a suspect in a robbery, but the D.A. is about to let her off because Radio preacher David Slade (Preston Foster), who knew her when they were kids, goes to bat for her. But when Nan confesses to David that she's guilty, he sees that she goes to jail. He realizes he loves her, but she refuses to see him. Her old gang gets in touch—two of the members are in the men's section of the jail and plan to tunnel to Nan's cell where escape is easier. She agrees to see David and sticks a note to the gang in his pocket, hoping he'll mail it. He does, but it gets intercepted by the police and the robbers are shot as they break into Nan's cell. She gets an extra year to serve, and when she gets out, she goes gunning for David, whom she thinks betrayer her. She shoots him in his office, but when the police arrive to investigate, he hides the wound and announces his engagement to Nan. She finally decides to go straight and marry him.

Review - Ladies They Talk About

The preacher was a sap to fall for Nan, especially after all that went on. Much of the acting was very wooden, like the actors were reading their lines out loud for the first time.
