Description:Con artist Candy Johnson (Clark Gable) is tired of being thrown out of one town after another. He decides to settle on one town and take it over. He meets Elizabeth (Lana Turner), whose father, now a judge, used to also be a con man. Through schemes and influence, Candy is soon running things. When his old flame "Gold Dust" (Claire Trevor) warns Elizabeth that Candy loves 'em and leaves 'em, Elizabeth gets him drunk and marries him. The judge, knowing what Candy really is, gets upset and stirs up the townsfolk against Candy and gets killed for it. Elizabeth is injured and almost dies. Candy decides to reform. He helps the town get rid of all his associates, then leaves town. Elizabeth follows, realizing that Candy has at last reformed.

Review - Honky Tonk

I didn't care for it. To many characters. Too much clever talk that didn't really mean anything. I'm not a big fan of the loveable rogue when the emphasis is on "rogue" as it was with Gable's character here.
