| Description: | A movie studio promotes a movie called Dancing Co-Edstaring a dancing couple, but when the wife gets pregnant, they need to find a replacement. They come up with an idea to find an actual co-ed by staging a contest in colleges across the country for a girl to take the role. But to hedge their bets, they enroll dancer Patty Marlow (Lana Turner) in a college in case they can't find a suitable girl. With her goes Eve (Ann Rutherford) as her tutor. A reporter, Pug (Richard Carlson) on the student paper suspects the contest isn't legit and decides to investigate. To hide her involvement, Patty joins the paper and works with Pug to unearth the ringer. They fall in love, and Pug proposes. Wanting to be honest, Patty admits her role. When she says she intends to go through with it because she gave her word, Pug has her kidnapped on the night of the contest. To fill time until Patty shows up, the studio asks Eve to dance. To everyone's surprise, including Eve's, she is chosen for the movie role. Patty decides to stay out of the movies and marry Pug. |
