Gable was good as Jeff, and the movie had a lot of witty dialogue. I'm not a big fan of Crawford, and this movie didn't change my mind.

| Description: | Jeff (Clark Gable) returns from Spain to propose to Mary (John Crawford), whom he has loved since they were friends as teens. He arrives to discover that Mary is about to marry Dill (Robert Montgomery), Jeff's best friend. Jeff pretends to be happy for them. Then Dill breaks off the wedding at the last minute and marries Connie (Frances Drake) who he had a fling with in Paris not long ago. Jeff does what he can to console Mary, but she still loves Dill. And when Dill begins regretting his marriage, Mary is ready to pick up where they left off. Dill divorces Connie, and he and Mary are about to get married again. Jeff has had enough is decides to return to Spain, but first he tells Mary how she feels. When he gets to the ship, he finds Mary waiting for him. |
