The movie follows two threads—two young children making their way through France with the help of other children and kindly adults. Meanwhile, Mike and Janine's mother Suzanne (Barbara Laage) chase all over France looking for their kids. Reviews for The Happy Road

Review - Happy Road, The

The kids (the actors were 14 and 11) were great. Kelly was rather annoying but with a kind edge. Laage was lovely but didn't have a lot to do except run around in a tight skirt and high heels for three days without getting her clothes wrinkled or her hair messed. Since it was a feel-good, happy movie with little suspense, even about the missing children, it would have been nice to have Mike and Suzanne get together at the end. Maybe they did.
