Description:Joe Barton (George Raft) undercover FBI agent is sent to Turkey during WWII. On the way, he meets a woman who gives him an envelope full of maps, supposedly a Russian plan to invade Turkey, but really a Nazi plant to give Germany an excuse to take over the country. The woman is killed, the maps are stolen from Barton's room, and he's chased back and forth across Turkey by Germans led by Colonel Robinson (Sydney Greenstreet) and by Russians, led by Zaleshoff (Peter Lorre) and his sister Tamara (Brenda Marshall). Robinson intends to have the maps published in a Turkish newspaper, but Barton stops it and turns Robinson over to Turkish authorities. Zaleshoff is killed, and Barton and Tamara head together to Egypt.

Review - Background to Danger

Sloppily filmed with obvious models for the train and much of the scenery. The maps were just a MacGuffin—the Germans could have published an article saying Russia was invading whether they had the maps or not. It all seemed rushed and sloppy, and Raft looked more like a high school gym teacher than a secret agent.
