| Description: | Paul (Paul Giamatti), a cranky English professor at a prep school, falls out of favor with the headmaster and has to stay on campus over Christmas and supervise one student, Angus, whose family doesn't want him home. The only other person on campus is Mary, a cook who just lost a son in Viet Nam. The three battle to begin but bond in time. Paul takes Angus to Boston to visit his father in an institution. Angus's mother wants to put him in military school, but Paul takes the blame. Angus is allowed to stay in school, but Paul is fired. He plans on taking a trip to Greece so he can write a book. Mary grieves, but decides to invest in the life of her sister's child. |
