| Description: | While in exile in France, Lady Mary (Ann Blyth) finds out that her father has been hung for treason on the accusation of Brampton (David Niven). Knowing her father to have been loyal, Mary goes to England to seek revenge. She teams up with highwayman Michael Dermott (Edmund Purdom) who has taken a book in which Brampton has written the names of those he intends to destroy. His ultimate plan is to gain the wealth and armies of those he destroys and eventually go after King Charles II (George Sanders). Dermott tries to help but Brampton always seems to beat him to the punch. At one point, he is condemned to death but escapes from jail. He attempts to steal the crown jewels just as the king is visiting the tower, which gives him the opportunity to accuse Brampton to the king's face. When he forces Brampton to hand over the book, the king believes him and rewards him. He and Mary end up together. A young Roger Moore plays Jack, Demott's friend and fellow thief. |
