| Description: | Kansas girl Marion (Loretta Young) meets Jimmy (David Manners), a businessman from New York. They spend time together and fall in love, but when Marion's step-parents see her with a "stranger," they kick her out. She heads for New York, only to discover that Jimmy is engaged to be married in three weeks. Marion disappears and gets a job in the theater, working for Ford (Louis Calhern), who wants to seduce her. Jimmy meets her at a party, and when Ford sees that she's in love with another man, he fires her. He uses one of the songs she composes in his show. Jimmy goes to Ford's apartment and quarrels with him. Ford trips and falls from his balcony. Knowing that Jimmy will be blamed, Marion confesses that she did it. Jimmy's friend, Doctor Tony (George Brent) doesn't believe her. He rushes to the hospital and manages to save Ford just long enough for him to confess that his death was his own fault. Jimmy wants to leave his wife for Marion, but she's decided to marry Tony. |
