| Description: | Jim Buchanan (Herbert Marshall), president of a car company, is upset because he can't convince his board to use his new car designs. He's also unhappy because he's about to marry a woman he doesn't love. He takes a walk in a park where he meets Joan (Jean Arthur), who is looking for work. She assumes Jim is also unemployed, so convinces him to pose as her husband so they can apply for a butler/cook job opening for a man and wife. They get the job working for Mike Rossini (Leo Carillo), a mobster with a good heart. A few days go by, and Jim and Joan fall in love. He shows her his car designs (although she has no idea who he is). When Joan tries to do Jim a favor by taking his designs to another car company, the owner thinks she stole them from Buchanan and has her arrested. Rossini bails her out of jail and shows her a letter that Jim wrote her, saying that he has to leave (to get married). Rossini tries to get Joan to marry him, but when she won't, he sends his gang to break up Jim's wedding and bring him back to Rossini's house to marry Joan, which Jim is happy to do. |
