Reviews for The Spellbinder
Review - Spellbinder, The
It was actually pretty good, although it felt more like an episode of a TV series than a movie.

| Description: | Cynical, manipulative defense attorney Jed Marlowe (Lee Tracy) gets Tom Dixon acquitted of murder, even though he knows for a fact that he's guilty. As part of his courtroom theatrics, Jed gets himself imprisoned for 30 days for contempt. It backfires when he discovers his daughter Janet (Barbara Read) has eloped with Dixon. Jed begs the judge for a furlough of one day and goes to the hotel and kills Dixon. In court, he defends himself and pleads guilty to manslaughter. The judge accepts the plea and, considering the circumstances, promises to be lenient. |
