Description:Hector (Simon Pegg) is a psychiatrist feels like his life is routine and that he doesn't help his patients. His girlfriend Clara (Rosamund Pike) mothers him. Hector decides he needs to find out what happiness, so he takes off on a journey around the world. He begins in China, then goes to Africa, then to L.A. to see an old girlfriend (now happily married). Along the way, he makes friends, gets beat up and kidnapped, helps people, and asks a lot of questions. In the end, he realizes that a fulfilled life isn't filled with just happiness, but with ups and downs of all sorts. He takes what he's learned and returns, marries Clara, and becomes much better at his job.

Review - Hector and the Search for Happiness

In the end, it was pat and shallow — there was no mention of faith except for a spell in a Buddhist monastery. But there were some interesting points along the way. His ex-girlfriend says that a happy marriage is one in which, no matter what happens, the marriage itself is never in question. Which I thought was very good.
